Telemedicine Clinic Launches In Yarnell

blog-Telemedicine-Clinic-In-YarnellOn April 9, 2015, the Yarnell community launched an urgent care telemedicine program provided by MeMD (a 24×7 telehealth provider) and coordinated by, St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center (SJHMC). This is another step in the community’s recovery efforts since the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire. The clinic will serve the 2000 residents in Yarnell, Peeples Valley and Wilhoit who had limited access to on demand urgent care. Limited medical care is a challenge to the recovery as businesses and potential residents prefer to be closer to medical services.

Dr. John Shufeldt, CEO of MeMD and a SJHMC emergency room physician agreed to offer the service to the community. Andrea Kamenca worked closely with MeMD’s Theresa Alvarez, Dr. Shufeldt, Yarnell Fire Department (YFD) Fire Chief Ben Palm and staff, and YFD Board members to launch the service. The service includes a computer (supplied by SJHMC) available for patients who visit the fire station to “see” a physician (at little or no cost) using the MeMD technology.
