Telepsychiatry in the Prison System [Infographic]
Many rural correctional facilities throughout the United States provide little to no mental health services for their inmates. Some rely completely on the limited resources provided by community health agencies to treat patients with addictions or mental illnesses. Telepsychiatry, a branch of telehealth, is a way for prison systems to reduce the costs of providing medical care to inmates, while also increasing the safety and quality of care delivered by medical providers.
